Funding your business

Featuring
Matthew Liles, Market President, Truist
Zacarias Hardy, Integrated Capital Associate, Impact Ventures
TBD

Moderated by
Deb Purvin, Founder, Business Owner's MBA (BOMBA) Program

Funding a small business isn’t always straightforward—especially when it comes to capital distribution. Learn where small businesses can access funding, what options are realistically available, and what it takes to prepare your business for investment. Whether you're looking to grow, scale, or simply survive, this session will offer practical insights to help you navigating the funding landscape with clear eyes and a solid strategy.

About the Speakers:
Despite her Dartmouth and Harvard education, and her 20 years in banking, Deb Purvin made many costly mistakes as she grew two businesses from start-up to $100M, successfully exiting both.  She created Business Owner’s MBA (BOMBA) so that business owners would have a path to success – without the mistakes!
BOMBA teaches owners to scale profitably by focusing on their financials.  With a simple, comprehensive, immediately actionable curriculum and 1:1 coaching, BOMBA transforms companies from breakeven to building profits and wealth.
When she’s not teaching BOMBA, Deb’s teaching the Goldman Sachs 10KSB program or sailing the Chesapeake on her 47’ sailboat.

Zacarias Hardy is an Integrated Capital Associate at Impact Ventures, a Dallas-based startup accelerator and emerging Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). In his role, Zacarias supports capital access for underestimated entrepreneurs through investment sourcing, portfolio support, and the facilitation of strategic programs like the SMB Capital Readiness Initiative and the NextWave Accelerator. These initiatives empower high-growth tech and consumer product startups, as well as small businesses.
With a background spanning Financial Operations, Underwriting, Venture Capital, and Investor Relations, Zacarias is deeply committed to advancing economic opportunity and expanding equitable access to capital in historically marginalized communities.
